What is the function of tRNA and mRNA?

RNA carries genetic information that is translated by ribosomes into various proteins necessary for cellular processes. mRNA, rRNA, and tRNA are the three main types of RNA involved in protein synthesis. RNA also serves as the primary genetic material for viruses. Other functions include RNA editing, gene regulation, and RNA interference.

What is messenger RNA (mRNA)?

Messenger RNA (mRNA) mRNA accounts for just 5% of the total RNA in the cell. mRNA is the most heterogeneous of the 3 types of RNA in terms of both base sequence and size. It carries complimentary…

Why are tRNAs called Transfer RNAs?

Therefore they are called transfer RNAs. Each of the 20 amino acids has a specific tRNA that binds with it and transfers it to the growing polypeptide chain. tRNAs also act as adapters in the translation of the genetic sequence of mRNA into proteins.

What is the function of rRNA in translation?

And attaches to the codon on mRNA There is a small variable loop present between the anticodon loop and the acceptor arm. rRNA associates with certain proteins to form ribosomes. They bind to tRNA and accessory proteins and move along mRNA during translation. Large and small ribosomal subunits contain different rRNAs.
