Inoltre, i briofiti includono muschi, epatiche e larve mentre i tracheofiti comprendono felci, gimnosperme, angiosperme.

What is the phylum Lycophyta?

Phylum Lycophyta: Club Mosses and More. The lycophytes are the oldest of the seedless vascular plants that have living representatives. They constitute one of the two major lines (clades) of vascular plants, which split probably in the Silurian Age, but at least by the Devonian.

What are the leaves of lycophytes called?

The leaves of lycophytes are called microphylls and are characteristic of all members of the group, extinct and living. In two of the three living lycophyte families, the microphylls are short. In all lycophytes, the microphylls are narrow and have a single, unbranched vein.

What is the origin of the lycophytes?

The different origins are attributable to the early divergence of the lycophytes from the main lineage of vascular plants.

Do lycophytes have microphylls?

Other lycophytes, such as Selaginella, may form extensive carpets in the understory of wet tropical forests. The most significant feature of lycophytes are microphylls, a kind of leaf which has arisen and evolved independently from the leaves of other vascular plants.
